  • 1 block extra-firm tofu (14 oz)
  • 2 tablespoons white miso paste
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon neutral oil (e.g., avocado or canola)
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
  • 2 scallions, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. Press the tofu for at least 30 minutes to remove excess moisture.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together miso paste, soy sauce or tamari, rice vinegar, sesame oil, maple syrup, ginger, garlic, and sriracha if desired.
  3. Break the pressed tofu into 1-inch chunks and add them to the marinade. Gently toss until coated.
  4. Sprinkle cornstarch over the marinated tofu and drizzle with neutral oil. Toss again to coat evenly.
  5. Place tofu in a single layer in the air fryer basket and cook at 450°F for about 10 minutes. Shake halfway through cooking until golden brown and crispy.
