  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  2. Mix eggs, ice water, and lemon juice; add to flour mixture until combined.
  3. Chill dough for 30 minutes, then roll out two pieces to fit a greased baking pan.
  4. For the filling, toss sliced apples with sugars, cornstarch, spices, and lemon juice.
  5. Assemble by layering the first dough sheet in the pan, adding apple filling, and covering with the second dough sheet.
  6. Cut vents in the top crust and bake at 375°F for 45-50 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Cool on a wire rack before glazing with a mixture of powdered sugar, milk, vanilla extract, and melted butter.
