Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound white fish fillets (cod or tilapia)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 cups shredded cabbage
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas

Instructions

  1. Prepare the coating by mixing flour, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper in a shallow bowl. Pour buttermilk into another bowl.
  2. Dip each fish fillet in buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off before dredging in the flour mixture.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry coated fish fillets for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine shredded cabbage, chopped cilantro, lime juice, mayonnaise, honey, salt, and pepper to make the slaw.
  5. Assemble tacos by placing one piece of crispy fish in each warm tortilla and topping with cilantro lime slaw.
  6. Serve immediately with lime wedges and any additional desired toppings.
