Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup brown sugar (for filling)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (for filling)
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup brown sugar (for caramel topping)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (for caramel topping)
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Warm the milk to about 110°F and mix with sugar and yeast; let it froth for 5-10 minutes.
  2. Combine flour and salt; add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg to form a shaggy dough.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for 6–8 minutes until smooth; let rise in a greased bowl until doubled (about 1 hour).
  4. Prepare the caramel topping by melting butter with brown sugar and heavy cream; pour into a greased baking dish.
  5. For the filling, mix softened butter with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  6. Roll out dough into a rectangle, spread filling, roll tightly, slice into pieces, and place on caramel.
  7. Let rise again for about 30 minutes; bake at 350°F for 25–30 minutes until golden.
