  • 1 lb hamburger meat
  • 1 lb ground pork sausage
  • 1012 shrimp (tail-off, deveined)
  • 4 cups cooked rice
  • 2 cups broth (chicken recommended)
  • 1.5 cups chopped onions and bell peppers
  • 1 tsp seafood seasoning
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 tbsp oregano
  • 3 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp pepper, more to taste
  • 1/2 tsp salt, more to taste
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Season shrimp with seafood seasoning. In a skillet over medium-high heat, heat 2 tablespoons of oil and cook shrimp for 2–3 minutes per side until curled. Remove and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add remaining oil and brown hamburger meat and ground sausage until fully cooked.
  3. Add chopped onions and bell peppers; cook for 3–4 minutes until softened. Stir in seasonings.
  4. Sprinkle flour over the mixture while stirring; gradually add broth and simmer until thickened.
  5. Stir in cooked rice and allow it to absorb flavors for an additional 5 minutes.
  6. Mix in the shrimp before serving hot.
