Ingredients
- 1 lb hamburger meat
- 1 lb ground pork sausage
- 10–12 shrimp (tail-off, deveined)
- 4 cups cooked rice
- 2 cups broth (chicken recommended)
- 1.5 cups chopped onions and bell peppers
- 1 tsp seafood seasoning
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1 tbsp oregano
- 3 tsp minced garlic
- 1 tsp thyme
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1/2 tsp pepper, more to taste
- 1/2 tsp salt, more to taste
- Pinch of cayenne pepper
Instructions
- Season shrimp with seafood seasoning. In a skillet over medium-high heat, heat 2 tablespoons of oil and cook shrimp for 2–3 minutes per side until curled. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add remaining oil and brown hamburger meat and ground sausage until fully cooked.
- Add chopped onions and bell peppers; cook for 3–4 minutes until softened. Stir in seasonings.
- Sprinkle flour over the mixture while stirring; gradually add broth and simmer until thickened.
- Stir in cooked rice and allow it to absorb flavors for an additional 5 minutes.
- Mix in the shrimp before serving hot.
