Ingredients
- 1.5 cups uncooked rice
- 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
- 1 nori seaweed sheet
- 1 can of small Spam (7 oz)
- 2 tsp vegetable oil
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sake
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 2 tsp potato starch (Katakuriko)
- 1 tbsp water
Instructions
- Cook the rice according to your method until fluffy.
- Mix in toasted sesame seeds once the rice is cooked.
- Cut the nori sheet into six strips for wrapping later.
- Slice the Spam into six equal pieces lengthwise.
- Fry the Spam slices in vegetable oil until browned on both sides.
- Prepare the sauce by combining soy sauce, sake, vinegar, sugar, potato starch, and water in the frying pan until thickened.
- Coat fried Spam slices with the sauce.
- Assemble the musubi by pressing rice into a mold, topping with Spam, and wrapping with nori securely.
