Description

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups uncooked rice
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 nori seaweed sheet
  • 1 can of small Spam (7 oz)
  • 2 tsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sake
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp potato starch (Katakuriko)
  • 1 tbsp water

Instructions

  1. Cook the rice according to your method until fluffy.
  2. Mix in toasted sesame seeds once the rice is cooked.
  3. Cut the nori sheet into six strips for wrapping later.
  4. Slice the Spam into six equal pieces lengthwise.
  5. Fry the Spam slices in vegetable oil until browned on both sides.
  6. Prepare the sauce by combining soy sauce, sake, vinegar, sugar, potato starch, and water in the frying pan until thickened.
  7. Coat fried Spam slices with the sauce.
  8. Assemble the musubi by pressing rice into a mold, topping with Spam, and wrapping with nori securely.
